Rehumanize: The Human First Lens

Fall Cohort: October 1st – December 3, 2024


Rehumanize is journey of healing, self-discovery and community empowerment. Together, we’ll explore our universal humanity, the cycle of oppression and empowerment, keys for healthy human relationships and what we can do to interrupt oppression, bias and prejudice we might encounter or have even developed in our ourselves. Perfect for those seeking to better understand themselves and wish to be a part of healing our communities. Rehumanize takes place over 10 days in short 1-hour sessions via Zoom so that participants can learn and contemplate lessons in the comfort of their own home or office. 

Course Details

The course meets weekly on Tuesdays from 6:30-7:30pm (EST) via Zoom, though some classes may be a bit shorter or longer depending on group dynamics. Sessions are spread out over several weeks in order to allow learners to process and practice new information they’ve received.

  • Tuesday, October 8th: Healthy Human Relationships, Layers, Goals & Communication Skills
  • Tuesday, October 15th: Interrupting Bias & Prejudice + Understanding & Dismantling Racism
  • Tuesday, October 22nd: Understanding & Dismantling Sexism & Homophobia, Heterophobia and Biphobia
  • Tuesday, October 29th: Understanding & Dismantling Religious and Political Oppression
  • Tuesday, November 5th: Understanding & Dismantling Ableism & Ageism
  • Tuesday, November 12th: Understanding & Dismantling Classism & Immigration & Nativism
  • Tuesday, November 19th: Understanding & Dismantling “Good Guys vs Bad Guys” and Othering
  • Tuesday, November 26th: I Am Me – Understanding & Rehumanizing Ourselves + Certificate of Completion
  • Tuesday, December 3rd: Train-the-Trainer (Optional)

About the Instructor

Ryan Acker has more than 25 years of experience in social services and the helping fields. In the early 2000’s, he was part of a workgroup who posed the question, “what is the root cause of oppression?”. He spent the next ten years developing what would become the Integrity Model and Theory of Oppression. Today, he has a passion for empowering people and institutions reach their own unique highest and fullest potential by laying the foundations for thriving and identifying and alleviating root causes of oppression at the individual, interpersonal and systemic levels. Ryan has degrees in Social Services and Sociology, and is the founder of All People Thriving, where he continues to advocate for human-centered systemic change as an author, speaker and consultant. 

Registration

Registration for the course is $99.00 per person. Scholarship and other payment options are available upon request by emailing info@allpeoplethriving.com.

Cancellations, Refunds and Missed Classes

We try to make registration as easy as possible for everyone! If for some reason you need to cancel up to 72 hours before the course, we can provide a full refund or transfer your registration to a future course. If you need to cancel after the course has started, we can provide a 50% refund up until the 3rd week of class, or you can transfer your registration to a future course. 

If you need to miss a class, there a variety of ways to get caught up. If for some reason the instructor needs to cancel a class, the instructor will work to reschedule that class in a way and at a time that works best for the group. If the instructor must cancel the entire course for some reason, you will receive a complete refund.
